The Etna Super Marathon - a major sporting event of international importance, never realized before at a world level - is the running race on single track, with the highest altitude in the world.
After the departure set by the coast of the Ionian Sea, "Marina di Cottone" (City of Fiumefreddo), athletes will be able to "touch" the summit of Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe. Three thousand meters of altitude, spread on a trail slightly above the "legendary" 42,195 kilometers, corresponding to the distance of the marathon. The peculiarity of this type of event, besides the height that must be reached, concerns either the chance to make the race by running on a fairly short track that will lead the various athletes from zero up to three thousand meters, but also the whole context within, in fact the race develops in one of the most famous and fascinating areas of the whole Italian territory: the volcano Etna.
The exploit, was registered in the annals of the Italian Athletics Federation, whose first edition was included in the Guinness Book of Records as the race with the most vertical drop on single track ever made, it will be an exceptional event.
The XI edition of the "Etna Super Marathon - 0 to 3000" will take place in June 9, 2018.
